United States organizers in Miami/Dade County on the immediate impact Castro's death would have on the island conclude that most problematic is the amount of Cubans fleeing the island to the United States in hopes of being on the dry side of the ambigious wet foot dry foot policy. Their logic is in reverse. Cubans, throughout the diaspora, especially in Dade County, will flock to Cuba. Many Cuban americans are eager to return to their homeland in hopes of taking part in Cuba's period of transition. These assumptions are one sided, they fail to consider that many Cubans, both radicals and conservatives, are eager to return to the country to impart positive change on the island. The common phrase "viva Cuba libre" lives strong in the hearts of Cubans that are resilient to relinquishing their country to the American power elite. In this flock, The vidiot and I are sure to be in that number.
