The "don't buy gas" email
posted by The Vidiot @ 8:12 AM Permalink I've received two emails in the last few weeks. One was "Don't buy gas on May 15th" which says that not buying gas on that day will lead to lower gas prices. Not only is that counterintuitive, it's wrong; not buying gas on one day of the year only puts us out, not them.The other email suggest a boycott of Mobil/Exxon, which are the two biggest oil companies. The theory is that if you force them to cut their prices to sell gas, everyone else will cut prices to compete.
Whether or not this strategy will work is beyond me. But at least it's not counterintuitive.
