Nicholas Kristoff is an idiot
posted by The Vidiot @ 3:15 PM Permalink And he's also deeply offensive. Behold, his latest screed:Yet one of the great Western misconceptions is that severe malnutrition is simply about not getting enough to eat. Often it’s about not getting the right micronutrients — iron, zinc, vitamin A, iodine — and one of the most cost-effective ways outsiders can combat poverty is to fight this “hidden hunger.”Read the whole thing if you feel like boiling your blood today.
Not one word in the piece mentions that perhaps the MASSIVE inequalities in our economic system has led to a situation where people in one part of the world starve and people in another part of the world have to get gastric bypass to stop eating themselves to death.
Yeah, just help them get the micronutrients they need, and then they'll be all better.
God, how did we get cursed with such people as Kristoff?

You are too kind, but he's in good company, the Confederacy of Dunces.
Childrens' bellies swell because they don't have ANY FOOD, ANY nutrients, any anything! I'm pretty certain that's called starvation.
'micro- nutrients' WTF!?
I think the USA calls them vitamins and nutrients important to healthy minds & strong bodies.

Perhaps Kristoff is lacking a few nutrients himself then since his mind does not seem to be too healthy.
And probably pshcoactive micronutrients, at that. He has long cared more abour Darfur than problems here (funny how he never seems to notice the genocides being conducted by America. Got his nose too far up Darfur as to notice, I guess).
