The folks are loving Dickposted by The Vidiot @ 7:40 AM Permalink Well, if you believe the polls anyway.
Fifty-five percent of people questioned in the poll say they have an unfavorable opinion of the former vice president. Thirty-seven percent say they have a favorable opinion of Cheney, up eight points from January when he left office. Now, accepting that the polls are believable (I know, it's a stretch) why on earth would Cheney's tour of gloom and doom be boosting his approval ratings? Well, I can tell you one thing that might be affecting it. Last night, I was watching the news (NBC) which I only do for a laugh because it's so wholly unbelievable. Anyway, I was LMAO when they were framing the whole mano a mano thing with Obama and Cheney as, well, a mano a mano thing. It was pure comedy. The contortions and manipulations, the word play and outright lies, it was like watching a Monty Python skit. They were trying to give Cheney's illegitimate arguments legitimacy. I don't know how since he's still mercilessly thrashing the 9/11 horse for chirssakes. BUT, to folks who gobble up the nightly news like a bag of chips, well, I can see how they might think that what Cheney was saying was strong and legitimate and forceful and responsible. Because that's how the news was making them feel about it.
Really, it was astounding. When you're aware of being manipulated, it's just astounding to watch it.
