Scott Crossfield has died at age 84 ... in a plane crash.
In case you don't know, Scott Crossfield was the fastest man alive for many years. He was the first to reach mach 2 and mach 3. He flew some of the fastest and the slowest planes ever invented. He flew the X-15, and a replica of the Wright brothers 1st plane.
My favorite quote:

He spent his life slipping the surly bonds of earth, now may he touch the face of god.
