Call to Arms Pens ... or ... Thank heaven for the internets ...

Only a few corporations already control everything we see or hear on TV and the radio. You can help change that:
Media Ownership Hearing Gets Rowdy

The battle over media consolidation began with hundreds of people, including actors, writers and musicians, imploring the Federal Communications Commission to prevent media conglomerates from growing even bigger.
[...]
Commission Chairman Kevin Martin, a Republican, has said he backs a repeal of the rule that restricts a company from owning both a newspaper and broadcast station in the same city. [ED: then why did he vote for them?]
[...]
"Without diversity in ownership and participation, our democracy is in danger," U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, a Democrat, said at the initial hearing held at the University of Southern California.
To put it a different way: Almost all Americans watch TV or read the newspapers for their take on what's going on in the country and the world. If those media outlets are owned by the same folks, we won't ever see any other viewpoints. It's already happening but you can help change it.

Go to your local meeting, oops, I was going to tell you where the FCC listed your meetings, but the FCC apparently doesn't list future events, you can always write them, and I suggest you do so. Even if last time they ignored you and a Federal court had to overturn their decision. But that shouldn't stop you. They think we're going to be discouraged, but if we keep hammering at them they have no choice but to listen ... OK, they have a choice, but if we want to have a choice, about anything, we have to keep hammering it home.
