The contradictions of capitalism.
Excerpt: The percentage of poor Americans who are living in severe poverty is the highest in thirty years, in which millions of working Americans are falling closer to the poverty line, and the gulf between this country’s ''haves'' and ''have-nots'' gets wider.
Meanwhile, companies like Radio Shack report record profits and extreme amounts of money continues to pour into political coffers.

1971 saw me working in Canada at a skilled blue collar job and making eight bucks an hour.
And it was the real world I worked in,a non union jobbing shop, a far cry from what the millionaires were making, the electricians and plumbers, so I wasn't being overpaid.

Thirty five years on to see the minimum wage at $5.25 that is scary.
I don't know what a dollar would buy this day and age, but I get the feeling it wouldn't be a great deal,it wouldn't get you much this side of the pond, that's for sure,
