Insurgents Smarter Than U.S. Military

After all the lame excuses Americans have heard regarding why our military has become so bogged down and made to look foolish in Iraq, it appears that the truth of the matter has finally been revealed: the insurgents are smarter, more clever, and more easily adapts new methods of inflicting maximum damage by the time American forces adjust to counter their techniques.

This really should come as no surprise in a region of the world where fighting in combat is as natural as breathing air. From very young children trained in desert warfare to the adults they eventually grow to be, combat, techniques, strategies, and the skill of adaptation are drilled into them incessantly, making them fierce warriors indeed.

Now, American generals are acknowledging this fact, a startling admission for sure. From Raw Story today:
Top US officials are describing foes in Iraq and Afghanistan as "smart, agile and cunning" and say the US is locked in a conflict that is the "biggest challenge since Korea 50 years ago."…The US has been slow adapting to the military problems presented by insurgents, says the Observer. The insurgents, on the other hand, are characterized by American generals as being able to quickly adapt to changes in US strategy and equipment.…"The world's only superpower is in danger of being driven back by a few tens of thousands of lightly armed irregulars, who have developed tactics capable of destroying multimillion-dollar vehicles and aircraft," continues the article.…[Excerpted directly from the observer article]…'Iraq and Afghanistan are sucking up resources at a faster rate than we planned for,' one three-star general said. 'America's warriors need the latest technology to defeat an enemy who is smart, agile and cunning - things we did not expect of the Soviets.'…'They know when we can and cannot shoot, and use that against us,' said one officer, reflecting the comments of US soldiers in the field. Another said recent video footage of an ambush on a convoy, posted on the internet, was evidence that insurgents were filming incidents to teach other groups about American counter-measures.…

So in addition to sending an insufficient number of under-equipped, under-armoured troops, the Army now reveals that America is on the verge of being defeated militarily by, "…a few tens of thousands of lightly armed irregulars, who have developed tactics capable of destroying multimillion-dollar vehicles and aircraft".…

So nice of them to finally tell us that the trillions of dollars America has spent over several decades on its defense budget, spending more that any other country on earth, was wasted on weapons systems and multi-million dollar vehicles and aircraft that are so easily destroyed we are losing in Iraq.

I'd say that's a lot of taxpayer money wasted that could have fed, housed, educated all the way through college, and cared for the health needs of every single one of our 300 million people.

It strikes me that America got the raw end of this deal.

I will never understand what drives some people to desire world domination over the welfare of its citizens

Just to throw a bit more gas (petrol?) on the fire:"G W's legacy, the most expensive hard on the world will ever see."
I prefer to think of it as 'the tinest flame that ever started a conflagration.'
