Misuse of the word hegemony really grinds my gears.

From a Uruknet article:
Excerpt: How will the US maintain hegemony over Iraqi oil?
You don’t maintain hegemony over a thing. Hegemony is an idea. It is a concept, a feeling a gestalt, if you will, of a lot of things that all pertain to power and control, but it’s not actual, physical power and control. The author obviously meant “maintain control over Iraqi oil.” When I bump into stuff like that, it’s like, I don’t know, scratching a chalkboard or something.

Proper use of the word “hegemony”, people. It will help you look not so stupid.

Not cutting them any slack? (English is a second language for Uruknet.)

But a point well-taken. I'll do a global search & replace of everything I have written just to be on the safe side.
