The mettle of freedom ...

Hoekstra, Bush critic to speak

Dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit and carrying a medallion he earned for his 27 years as a Central Intelligence Agency analyst, Ray McGovern arrived at U.S. Rep. Peter Hoekstra's Washington office.

He left the medallion and a letter saying he no longer wished to be associated with the agency that reportedly has tortured prisoners of war.

"That you, as Chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, show more deference to the White House than dedication to your oversight responsibilities under the Constitution is another profound disappointment," he wrote in the March letter. "How can you and your counterpart, Sen. Pat Roberts (chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee), turn a blind eye to torture -- letting some people get away, literally, with murder -- and square that with your conscience?"
'nuff said.
