Zimbabwe

As you may or may not know, lately, Zimbabwe has been crashing and burning. They money is tanking about a bazillion times worse than ours. People are starving, fleeing, you name it. The stores ended up selling their goods at a loss. The country's economy has shrunk by 50% over the last 8 years, it has 80% unemployment, and an inflation rate of over 3000%. In an effort to cool the runaway inflation, Mugabe ordered that prices be halved. Really not a good place to be right now. Some say the problems were triggered when Mugabe seized the white-owned farms. Now, the agricultural sector is in huge trouble and nearly 4 million (out of nearly 12 million) people well need food aid. Meanwhile, millions are fleeing in to South Africa. And what does the wife of their illustrious leader do? She goes shopping, natch. OK. So that's bad. She's buying food and bring it back home, even though it's illegal to do that for regular folk there. Their own Marie Antoinette.

In summary, the people are starving and miserable.

So when I see stuff like this, I just have to bury my head.
Excerpt: Hillbilly Hotdogs of Huntington made history Friday, July 20, 2007 about 6 p.m. when it brought out their first ten pound hamburger on a bun with pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, onions and cheese for the hearty hamburger appetite.
