Ugh

This advert for Converse is disturbing to me because it uses the language of the radical anarchist to sell a freaking shoe. One sure-fire way to marginalize radical thought is to insert it into mainstream discourse, preferably in something useless like marketing, thereby diluting its impact to the point that it becomes utterly meaningless. I betchya' that soon, we'll see Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn quotes being used to sell the newest shoes.

Don't believe me? Look what they did to hip-hop.

I saw this commercial over the weekend and was thoroughly repulsed by it. More desensitization of Americans by the use of pernicious statements all the time, even in commercials!

I'll be waiting to see what justification bushco uses to declare martial law, cancel the elections, and round up all us "dissenters" (that he equates with "dissidents").

See ya around the concentration camp.
