How lame are we as a society

posted by The Vidiot @ 1:56 PM Permalink

when we buy books to decorate a library instead of actually reading books to fill our library?
Designer books unlike draperies or carpeting appreciate in value and never wear out. They are an investment for the future, as well as the ideal item with which to decorate your home or office. Warm rich leathers and antique gilt accent any room from traditional to contemporary in style. A library, study or simply a corner table...designer books are an affordable and elegant way to add warmth and beauty to your decor.
We're doomed.

They (books) are also very good at stabilizing tables with one leg too short, can be kept handy for hurling at annoying people, they are dandy for starting fires, they can be stacked for use as a stepladder or beer holder, you can build wonderful forts if they're stacked correctly - replete with towers, lookout ports, and drawbridges - and there's hardly anything funnier than "accidently" dropping the Compact Oxford English Dictionary on someone's foot (the one with all 28 volumes of the original shrunk down by putting nine pages of the original text on each page of the book, and supplying a magnifying lens for readability, it's about 1' x 9'' x 3.5 " and weighs about seven hundred pounds). I also learned through the movies that individual pages of books work fine as rolling papers, which is probably not well known, as not everybody is into high-brow films like me. ;–)

Ok, seriously now, if a people decide there are no need for books they will forever be of no consequence or any help to society.

Don't forget that the pages of the bible can burn vampires!

I also forgot to mention that they make great hats, especially if it's raining!

Oh, and lest we forget, emergency toilette paper, especially those Anne Coulter books (which could explain the bulk sales)
