It wasn't like I thoroughly understood the geometric distortion in Relativity theory known as the Lorenz contraction until someone showed me the actual formula showing exactly how the appearance of objects moving at relative speeds seems to shorten in their direction of travel. I mean, honestly. We all can't know everything.Jeesh.
