WTF?! They want to tax the American taxpayer extra to pay for the war?

"Regardless of whether one favors the war or not, if it is to be fought, it ought to be paid for," the lawmakers, all prominent Democratic allies of Obama, said in a joint statement on the "Share The Sacrifice Act of 2010."

So, then, I have to ask: Instead of levying a new tax, why not just end the war?

With such a simple solution available, you KNOW that proposing this tax is bullshit. They are proposing the tax so that people's knickers get all twisted and the talking heads start blabbering, giving Obama the opportunity to act like the hero and say "no" to the tax. See, they create the problem, then they solve the problem and the whole time the real issue, the validity of the war itself, never gets discussed. Additionally, with all the blabbering about this tax, they'll be able to sneak in a whole bunch of other taxes that the people won't even notice or know about.

It's not that they're clever, they just know how to do this crap.
