Consider the Source ... or ... A League of Their Own
posted by The Sailor @ 7:57 PM Permalink Quick, man the Swiftboats!Perhaps you've heard about presidential hopeful Edwards' hiring bloggers to help his campaign. 2 among many that were hired had previously written negative blog posts about the Catholic Church and wrongwinger evangelicals. Please note that they weren't talking about Catholics and/or Christians, just the folks who want to establish their will on our bodies and our body politic.
Amanda 'The Catholic church is not about to let something like compassion for girls get in the way [...] of using the state as an instrument to force women to bear more tithing Catholics' Marcotte and Melissa 'keeping your noses out of our britches, our beds and our families' McEwan wrote posts that stated the obvious and contained (gasp!) profanity.
But what is noticibly missing in all the stories is anything about the man who was so offended by Edwards' hiring of them. The man who has been given a soapbox by the media for years. The man who called the bloggers "vulgar, trash-talking bigots." The man who apparently (if the MMM can be believed, and it can't) speaks and thinks for all Catholics.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League and self-appointed annoiter of all that is allowed in America:
"Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular."Well there you have it. Uncle Billy has declared that this isn't about our nation, it's about the Catholic League, and they get to decide.
"Name for me a book publishing company in this country, particularly in New York, which would allow you to publish a book which would tell the truth about the gay death style."
lesbians are "something I'd expect to see in an asylum, frankly"
"I have news for him--the Catholic League--not Edwards--will decide what the debate will be about, and it won't be about the nation."
I think that Uncle Billy is a bigot who hates gays and Jews and anyone else who disagrees with his perverted view of Christ's teachings.
So, what do you think?
