Today's Poor, Pitiful Legislator, Senator Trent Lott

Verse from A Day in the Life from the legendary Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album:

Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
Somebody spoke and I went into a dream…
Did you ever have one of those surreal days when you question yourself as to the things you might have just seen or heard?

I'm not trying to be cryptic, the title above eliminates any chance of subtleties, but Trent Lott was just up on the Senate floor speaking for the benefit of the camera there and actually railed about inability of this congress to get anything big, like an immigration bill, passed with all the political posturing and obstructionism.

Of course, he did not bother to point out that bush desperately needs a success on this or otherwise the only thing at all of note done during this maladministration will be the "GWB Iraq Fiasco," just as he did not identify the Republican obstructionist Senators who have obfuscated, delayed, filed amendment after amendment to cause endless voting, and that have voted for filibuster after filibuster pursuant to the orders of their REAL boss, Grover Norquist, who ordered that "nothing good come out of this congress for the next two years."

And just now, 8:30 a.m., a sufficient number of Republicans just voted against cloture so that the underlying immigration amendment could not be voted upon.

Now Mitch McConnell is standing there whining and making ridiculous statements as to how poorly the rethugs are being treated! After voting against cloture over THIRTY TIMES since January he is encouraging yet another filibuster! Hypocrites!

"Somebody spoke and I went into a dream - AAAARRRGGGHHH!…"
