It took nearly four months for the NYT to get it almost right.

Remember when Georgia attacked S. Ossetia? Well, maybe you don't remember because it wasn't framed that way. Maybe you'll remember it better if I say "Remember when Russia attacked Georgia?"

Ringing any bells now? I thought so.

Though, of course, if you're a long-time reader of this site, or any other site that's not controlled by a corporation, you were already well aware of the fact that Georgian troops attacked a bunch of Russian peace keepers in the break-away republic of S. Ossetia, thereby triggering a somewhat justified reaction from Russia that nearly turned into a full-out, balls-on war. Hell, a 12-year-old girl said as much on FOX news back in mid-August.

Well, it seems that the NYT is just now getting around to some semi-honest reporting:
Newly available accounts by independent military observers of the beginning of the war between Georgia and Russia this summer call into question the longstanding Georgian assertion that it was acting defensively against separatist and Russian aggression.

Instead, the accounts suggest that Georgia’s inexperienced military attacked the isolated separatist capital of Tskhinvali on Aug. 7 with indiscriminate artillery and rocket fire, exposing civilians, Russian peacekeepers and unarmed monitors to harm.
I'd like to say, "better late than never" but honestly, I'm so sick of that last eight years of lies, obfuscations, manipulations, propaganda, and distractions, I don't want to give them a pass. It's been more than eight years actually. It's been like, forever.

The corporate-owned media has done a great disservice to we the people. They should all be broken up into little pieces and we should return to the ribald days when every media outlet has its slant and you had to read or watch three or four versions of the same story to get to the crux of it. Yes, it was time consuming, but what would you rather have; a little anarchy, or all of our media marching in lockstep to orders from people who are so wealthy, they need not concern themselves with the price of milk?

Yes, I remember when you got angry after the pres debates because both candidates got it wrong and kept accusing Russia of attacking S Ossetia.

Depends on the definitions of "attack" and "ambush out-of-the-blue-for-no-reason-at-all-'cept-that -you've-been-misled-by-cowboy-bush-that-America-might-back-you-up" are doesn't it?
