Headline from NYT: "Should Health Insurance Be Mandatory?"

posted by Bill Arnett @ 2:10 PM Permalink

45 million uninsured. More people than ever living without a job, the prospect of a job, or the training or experience to get a single job to support their families. Families with two or more working members working two or more jobs just to survive. Welfare rolls and unemployment growing daily. More living in poverty than ever before. More ill and infirm than ever before.

Oh, yeah, these people will be delighted to run right out and beg, borrow, or steal the money they will need to purchase health insurance they cannot afford. Sure a few family members may have to be given the boot out in into the elements of nature, but I'm sure they won't mind that the government is again plotting a brand new way to mandatorily deprive them of the meager resources with which they must survive.

Health care will never be fair and equal until it is available to everyone at no cost to the individual. The poor are the only ones that will be bear the brunt of this shameful proposal as, of course, the rich can go anywhere and pay almost any amount of money for top notch care.

Not so for those so destitute that they must choose whether to open another can of cat food for dinner or take one more prescious pill they can ill afford to try to stay alive to provide help for those in the family even worse off than they.

Shame on America, and shame on those who would seek to snatch ever greater sums from the hands of those whom may least afford it.

Gosh, if 'government healthcare' is so bad why do all the senators and congresscritters have it?

Most of them are millionaires (and those that aren't make more money than the median wage of citizens they supposedly represent), and can afford their own private insurance for them and their families.

Yet they insist on sucking the teat of gov't healthcare while publicly calling for private healthcare for us peons.

EVERY U.S. Senator is a millionaire, hence the "Millionaire's Club" is considered one of the most exclusive organizations in the world.

Why should the "yoyo" (your on your own) party give a hoot for anyone but themselves?

I just wonder how many of them are invested to the hilt in Big Oil, waiting for the big payoff when we seize all that Iraqi oil bush wanted to steal.
