The apex of cynicism

posted by The Vidiot @ 11:43 PM Permalink

When I heard that Osama bin Laden had been killed, I thought the following:

Oh really? You mean they killed a guy who has been dead for nearly 10 years? That's a trick.

and

Why announce it now? Why does it make me so uneasy? What are they prepping us for?

and finally

Is this how they're starting off the election year? This is them coming out of the gate at full speed? Seriously?

So, I have to ask, is there anybody more cynical than I?

Update: They dumped his body into the sea? Really? WTF for? Even Che got multiple pictures take of his body, bits and pieces of him cut off and examined. I mean, hell, that's what's supposed to happen to enemies of the State.

No, no, no. It there wasn't something hinky before, there is certainly something hinky now. I almost feel like like Obama didn't order the dumping of the body but now has to deal with it. Why go on about proof if you dump your proof into the sea? Did somebody just screw Obama?

I dunno.

Listen, all we know is that the US government wants us to think they they killed Osama bin Laden. That's all we know for sure. Everything else is just speculation.

For years now, OBL has been a virtual no-show on America's terrorist propaganda-fest. Why kill him off (again) now?

With the way that the modern telling of human events are so compartmentally processed through a corporate-media bottle-neck, there ain't nothing that's satirized on the "News" that can be taken for literal truth.

No communication with OBL AFTER 2002 has ever been proved to be an original, post-2002 communication.

The rationale for the burial of osama at sea is the easiest of all to understand. Had we hung on to the body an instant later hundreds of family members could have laid claim to the body for the family to bury. They could, and probably would have, mutilated the body horribly, flashed pictures all around the world, and inflamed even further the radical nuts that exist in every religion, including the Muslim one.

Instead, America has probably thousands of pictures of the corpse, the autopsy reports, and, no doubt, thousands of official tapes and even more unofficial tapes showing a most dignified ceremony and a proper burial at sea. There he will become fish food; buried anywhere on land he would have become a new Mecca for terrorists to throw in our faces day-after-day, constantly inciting renewed violence.

So IMHO, President Obama and his team made the correct and most excellent decision as to the disposition of the body.

Bill;

It's a great reason to bury him at sea? Just for practice, do you really believe that they would actually do something they professionally claim? Who actually saw the body being pushed into the ocean?

Do you really believe that the O'barry administration is not lying to us now? I mean, come-on ... they've already been caught "exagerating" about OBL's "human-shield" wife and the fact that OBL was unarmed while being assassinated!

What Obama has done here is the very epitome of a vicious, tyranical government (besides the fact that there are no facts -- other than what America's corporate media has propagandized -- linking OBL to 9-11)!

Tim Osman was a whore-media tool who died about a decade ago ... they only got around to killing him off this year.

Sorry, DanD and Vidiot, I have forced myself to renounce hatred and cynicism on this one. Yes, I take Obama at his word completely. It was an excellent decision to bury OBL at sea to become fish food instead of a martyr to be worshipped as if he were the new mecca.

Of course we are learning new things about a raid conducted in the dead of night thousands of miles away involving multiple helicopters and anywhere from sixty to eighty SEALS trained for maximum lethality – kill everything that moves – as all of the residents of that compound had pledged their loyalty to OBL and any one of them, including his young son and wife, would have gladly ended the life of any American they could if they had an opportunity.

Pure D search and destroy executed to perfection. Kill or be killed within the borders of a semi-hostile country which we could not count on backing us up. I find it difficult to believe that as a former military man you don't grasp this. Big deal if NONE of them had weapons ('though we know they did) search and destroy is what SEALS do best and I, for one among many, tip my hat and salute some of the most badass people on the planet.

As I said above, I have renounced all the hatred, suspicion, and doubt I ever had about President Obama. He, not gwb, avenged this nation.

Its time to put this behind us and heal as a nation.

I have absolutely no idea who that Tim Osman is, the circumstances of his death, or any reason for me to devote any thought to him.

What Obama has done is shout out to the world that America IS NUMBER ONE ... as a war-crimes state.

Inevitably Bill, we must all "forgive" the criminal whenever we decide to drink his koolaide.

Sibel Edmonds has a very sane take on the matter:

Okay Bill, you write: "as all of the residents of that compound had pledged their loyalty to OBL and any one of them, including his young son and wife, would have gladly ended the life of any American they could if they had an opportunity."

And since everybody of any importance there was unarmed (if the wife and kids had been packin', surely they woulda' also been slaughtered), where's your evidence of this? In addition, I wonder, would what you claim of Ms. bin Laden and kids be any different than what your Warrior-Woman would have done for you whether or not armed? Surely, your babe would have protected you much more effectively ~

Also, you seem to admit that America's modern "Special-Forces" military don't need to worry about no "Rule-of-International-Law" niceties (any more). How so tragically true.

Moving along, here's an even better take on the matter, though it is written by a woman (and therefore not very relevant in a male-dominated, war-mongering world).

DanD, ya just don't get it. Renouncing hatred and cynicism is not the same as embracing love, forgiving war crimes, or drinking anyone's koolade. I care not about Sibel Edwards, don't know who she is, and I don't feel any burning desire to find out. She is, after all, just another person expressing her opinion (I presume from the text of your reply) and her opinion, however artfully pressed, is no reason for me to change my mind.

And don't make the mistake of thinking it is only for Obama that I have decided to renounce hatred.

This country, thanks to gwb, became a haven for hatred, bigotry, homophobic lunatics, and everything evil brought about old party establishment-type, backdoor politics with markers taken and given to the ward boss sitting under the bright lights, stogie held in the corner of his mouth and with his green visor shading his eyes; sitting there making the decision as to who wins, who loses, and whose turn it is next to be elected. The GOP on steroids provided by the teabaggers suckling their sacs and blowing more smoke of hatred up their asses.

I have renounced ALL hatred and hatred-enhanced cynicism as I see what it has done to this country over the eight years of bush and the low down dirty tricks and hatred they have espoused during Obama's first two years: Openly praying for his failure, advocating political assassination as a way to resolve political differences.

Well, I'm not playing their game anymore after partial regaining a modicum of intelligence I can actually access now hat my pain levels are down to a more manageable level. My posting today will show you words I took to heart years ago and stood me well until I, too, became inflamed in the hatred, nurtured and fostered by the right wing.
