Idiotic headline for the day…

Consumers Drag Economy Down
I won't link to the article as I think it dumb beyond belief to blame consumers for the current state of the economy and would't wish to embarrass the author more than his headline should or will.
[…] Consumers are clearly in retreat, and the economy is suffering.…
Hey, no kidding? I never would have guessed that from the record numbers of bankruptcies, home foreclosures, and businesses failing, so it's not a matter of consumers retreating, but consumers being beaten down by the failed theory of "trickle down economics" that has been so disastrous to America and Americans.

"Give the money and big tax breaks to the super wealthy and they will build factories, open businesses, and provide good jobs for the lower and middle classes," we were told.

Instead the only thing that "trickled down" on the lower and middle classes was a suspicious yellow substance the rich kept shaking off their legs and shoes on those down below. And the results haven't been pretty.

There is a nondescript, medium-sized, plain white five story building down in the Cayman Islands that is the headquarters, at least on paper, of over 12,000 corporations which escape paying taxes in America by having their "headquarters in a mailbox" there.

It works synergistically with the other mantra of Republicans, "yoyo." or "your own your own." In other words if you should be starving it's your own fault for not finding a job and working hard, so no help from a Rethug here. If you are lying sick, near death, again the Rethugs will do nothing more than tell a destitute sick person that they should have bought health insurance.
If you can't afford to go to college because of obscenely high tuitions, the Rethugs will tell you to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, even though you may be to broke to afford boots. And I swear, if you were on fire by the roadside a Rethug couldn't be bothered to stop their limousine to p*ss on you and put the fire out.

THAT'S what happens when you give the rich more money, they get "maildrops" off-shore so they pay no American taxes at all, move their factories overseas for cheaper labor, and then re-import their goods to be sold for killer profits here in America. All the while having no intentions whatever to do anything but make money from the American people, no matter how badly those people are suffering.

The Republican theory of trickle down economics is an abject failure and the GOP advocates of this theory deserve naught but banishment to the wilderness until they rethink their evil ways and decide to actually perform good works for the people of America and not just themselves for a change.

But that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.

In the meantime keep your umbrellas handy so you don't get trickled on.

Trickle down is just the redistribution of wealth upward. It's socialism for the rich. Of course it failed.

The results speak for themselves and it is a sad tale of tragic failure on the part of people we entrusted with our government.

bush has overseen the greatest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich than anyone else in history.

To quote the old lady, mother of the kicker that failed to make a field goal and cost the Dolphins the Superbowl (Chief Detective Einhorn), "May [bush] die of gonorrhea and rot in hell!"

It sure shows their mindset when they think "Consumers Drag Economy Down."

WTF do they think an economy is!?

Sharing the wealth with the wealthy, of course.
