Things are just getting better!

The debt clock had to move the dollar sign over because the US national debt is now over $10 trillion. The folks at the treasury are now talking about becoming owners in banks that need an infusion of cash (e.g. Treasury will buy into private corporations). I mean, it's crazy.

No wonder there are rumors of martial law being planned.
WMR has learned from knowledgeable Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sources that the Bush administration is putting the final touches on a plan that would see martial law declared in the United States with various scenarios anticipated as triggers. The triggers include a continuing economic collapse with massive social unrest, bank closures resulting in violence against financial institutions, and another fraudulent presidential election that would result in rioting in major cities and campuses around the country.
with troops being deployed here in the US.

The timing of this planned militarization is crucial: how will it affect the presidential elections scheduled for Tuesday November 4.

The brigade in its domestic homeland activities will be designated as the Consequence Management Response Force ( CCMRF) (pronounced “sea-smurf”).

What " Consequences" are being envisaged?

Maybe McCain was merely telling the truth here:

A few things: Even bush is smart enough to recognize that martial law declared here would be equivalent to Iraq on steroids, I still don't believe U.S. troops would obey orders to open fire on their fellow citizens, friends, and families who would also be placed in jeopardy, no "private" army (i.e. Blackwater) exists in sufficient numbers to control the populace, bush wouldn't risk the scathing contempt of allies that might come in to help our citizens, and it would permanently remove America from the list of superpowers. And there is still the matter of the many, many honorable flag grade officers who resigned rather than betray their oaths mostly because of bush's Iraq fiasco, but whom still command a great deal of respect from hundreds of thousands of American troops who could lead an unstoppable counter insurgency to regain control of our country. I also think that Russia and Chine would see the perfect time to launch an attack against America in the name of "democracy," ending America forever.
