If I were I real cynic

I might think that this:
Space radiation is a hazard not only to the operation of modern aircraft but also to the health of aircrew and passengers,” said the study, titled Space weather and its impact on Earth – implications for business.
might be a cover story for the uptick in cancer rates among frequent fliers and airline employees due to the radiation they will likely be exposed to because they will be forced to use the new back scatter xray machines.

I'm just sayin'.

This is little different than what has happened with cigarette tobacco. Before WWII, cancer from cigarette smoking was not viewed as a significant problem. Mostly, that's because it wasn't.

Then, the U.S. started testing nuclear weapons in the West. As a logically predictable consequence, lung cancers from breathed-in fallout dust would be increasing, and the government would be tagged as the logical cause.

That is, until a diversionary "logical cause" was manufactured.

Lung cancer from Cigar and Pipe smoking is extremely marginal, and could also be attributed to other behaviors.

But pack-cigarette tobacco? It is produced for one primary purpose, and that is to divert the blame for most lung cancers from the government.
